The National Child Nutrition Conference is officially underway! Monday was an exciting preconference day filled with invaluable sessions, networking opportunities, and in-depth discussions on child nutrition programs. Here’s a recap of the day's events:
A Productive Start to the Week
Monday marked the beginning of an exciting week as attendees arrived, checked in at the Registration & Information Desk, and prepared for the engaging sessions ahead. The energy was high as participants connected with peers, explored conference materials, and got ready for the learning opportunities to come.
Preconference Academy: Deep Dives into Child Nutrition
For those seeking specialized training, the Preconference Academy provided an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge from industry experts. Running in two sessions, these workshops equipped attendees with the tools and resources needed to enhance their child nutrition programs.
Industry Partner Exclusive & Navigating the Conference
At noon, select attendees participated in the Industry Partner Exclusive, a session tailored for NCA Industry Partners to network and discuss collaboration opportunities. Later, the Navigating the Conference Q&A session provided first-time attendees with tips on making the most of their experience, ensuring they’re set up for success throughout the week.
Critical Conversations: USDA Listening Session & Program Overviews
In the afternoon, the USDA Listening Session for State Agencies served as a crucial forum for state agencies to engage directly with USDA representatives, discussing policies and strategies to improve child nutrition programs nationwide.
Attendees also had the opportunity to dive into program-specific overviews:
- SUN Meals Overview provided insights into summer nutrition programs.
- Afterschool Meals Overview explored best practices for serving meals in afterschool settings.
