Quiche is a savory tart consisting of a pastry crust filled with a custard mixture of eggs, milk, and various ingredients such as cheese, vegetables or meats. Its appeal lies in its simplicity, adaptability, and the delightful combination of flavors and textures it offers. They are served warm and great as part of breakfast, lunch, supper, or even as a snack! But what parts of the quiche are reimbursable as part of a CACFP meal? - The eggs, cheese, and/or meat may be credited toward the meats/meat alternates component if there is at least a 0.25 oz eq per serving. See the Food Buying Guide for information on crediting the remaining ingredients toward meal pattern requirements. Document the meal pattern contribution with a standardized recipe.
- Â Savory dishes that use pie crusts such as vegetable pot pie and quiches are not considered grain-based desserts and are reimbursable in the CACFP. See guidance here.Â
