Community Action for Improvement Head Start
March 16, 2021
We discussed with our children how healthy and unhealthy foods make our bodies feel. We talked about the differences between healthy snacks and unhealthy snacks, and why it is important that we feed our bodies healthy ones. The children were encouraged to sort through the snacks in the dramatic play area and place them in the healthy snack box or the unhealthy snack box. The children gave a thumbs up for healthy foods and a thumbs down for unhealthy foods. We then provided the children with CACFP approved foods from the kitchen so that they could make their own snack with items they chose. The children were offered yogurt, bananas, oranges, apples, and pineapples to choose from. We extended the activity by encouraging and assisting the children with making a list of both kinds of foods.
